Juniper Village Forest Hills Trip To Nemacolin Woodlands With Riverview Towers! August 2010

Juniper Village at Forest Hills residents and staff in these photos enjoy the day as they journey on a bus tour through the Nemacolin Woodlands with neighboring Riverview Towers Independent Living High Rise Community. This outing was a great event introducing new friendships as well as celebrating old ones. Residents and staff got to experience some of the ammenities and beauty of the Laurel Highlands and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort while traveling in the comfort of a Coach USA Bus.

Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, located in the Laurel Highlands of Southwestern Pennsylvania, is one of only 21 hotels and resorts in the world to host AAA Five-Diamond lodging and dining.

Situated on 2,000 acres, the Forbes Four-Star and AAA Four-Diamond resort features 327 luxurious guestrooms, suites, Townhouses and Private Luxury Homes, including the AAA Five-Diamond Falling Rock boutique mountain hotel. Situated on 2,000 acres, the Forbes Four-Star and AAA Four-Diamond resort features 327 luxurious guestrooms, suites, Townhouses and Private Luxury Homes, including the AAA Five-Diamond Falling Rock boutique mountain hotel.
In addition to the internationally acclaimed Woodlands Spa, the resort offers 36-holes of championship golf on two courses - the Pete Dye designed, PGA-tested Mystic Rock and the traditional Links Course. Nemacolin also has a Shooting Academy, an outdoors sporting facility on 140 acres complete with 30-stations, spacious lodge, wing shooting and Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing.

For a more rugged and adventurous experience there are offerings of the Adventure Center. Spend the afternoon or day at our Wildlife Academy, home of the Equestrian Center, animal nursery, animal habitats and educational programs. Black bears, zebra, buffalo, tigers and hyenas are just some of over 100 animals that currently call Nemacolin home.

For shoppers, there are 14 specialty shops in Heritage Court, plus nearby Uniontown boasts the ultimate outdoor store, Woodlands World.

As the seasons change, our ski facilities at Mystic Mountain offer both downhill and cross-country skiing enthusiasts, snowboarders and snow tubers a variety of snowsports. For a different winter experience, enjoy snowshoeing or dog sledding the property’s winter trails.

Culture is also an experience at Nemacolin. Enjoy daily art tours of the Multi-million dollar Hardy Family Art Collection, Cooking Classes and Wine Tasting in the state-of-the-art Académie du Vin.

For meetings and events, Nemacolin offers 32,000 square feet of Meeting and Banquet Facilities including four ballrooms, a 200-seat lecture hall, and 24 meeting rooms, making Nemacolin the ideal setting for functions ranging from weddings to corporate sales meetings.

Nemacolin also boasts an impressive collection of restaurants and lounges, including the Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond Lautrec, a forward-thinking fine dining experience. Lautrec received a AAA Five Diamond rating for 2008 and again for 2009 making it the only such rated restaurant between east coast cities such as Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and New York and Chicago.

Residents & staff had so much fun during this trip there was a request to do it again next year!

"Dr. Youngblood's Secret Potion"

The leadership team at Juniper Village Forest Hills is all smiles for this photo shoot opportunity after their Halloween Performance of "Dr. Youngblood's Secret Potion".
For the past 7 years Dr. Youngblood has been working on a potion to keep him young. This year, he has found his Great Grandfather's secret recipe. His plan is to make enough of the potion to share with everyone at the neighborhood Halloween party, but something goes wrong. Is there really a magic potion for the "Fountain Of Youth" or is it just that special something that all of us already have deep inside us?
"Dr. Youngblood's Secret Potion" was written and directed by our very own Community Relations Director Bonnie Prisk and features our Juniper Village Players: Rodney Boyers, Janet Wangler, Faith George, Lessie Murray and Eric Fithyan. Our performance was a very successful event for our residents and staff. It was a great relationship and team building activity! Our production provided laughs for staff, residents, families and the community!
