Alive in All Seasonings Contest..."Pittsburgh Pinch"

Recently Juniper challenged all of its communities to develop a signature seasoning that would be used at all Juniper Communities. The signature seasoning blend will be called "Alive in All Seasonings". Each community was encouraged to submit 1 recipe. Juniper Village at Forest Hills Kitchen Corner and  Dieticians Table With Faith George groups recently got together for a brain storming session which also included sampling various herbs and spices. The following is the recipe that the group came up with! Bon Appetite!

Alive in all Seasonings: Pittsburgh Pinch

This blend of unique and aromatic spices will liven up your palate with an explosion of flavor. This salt free blend has a citrus and spice undertone with a mellow & toasty hint of onion. True to Pittsburgh life, this spice shows its allegiance to the black and gold showcasing black peppercorns and golden mustard seeds. Don’t be shy, it won’t tackle your taste buds to the ground, this blend is as friendly as the city it’s named for! So please, add a Pittsburgh Pinch to your favorite dish, and you too will feel "Alive in All Seasonings".

Recipe:

Black peppercorns 3 parts

Szechuan peppercorns 2 parts

White Peppercorns 1 part

Mustard seeds, whole 2 parts

Lemongrass 1 part

Lemon peel minced 1 part

Orange peel minced 1 part

Toasted minced onion 2 parts

Note: Best results if used with a small ceramic grinder. Be sure to replace spices after one year for optimal quality and flavor.
